I have a new pet peeve. I discovered it on blogskins.com, but I suspect it is also present in teen blogs everywhere. The way the kids have reinvented spelling. Like lurve is love? Um, no. It makes me nuts! It was bad enough when people started FuCkInG wItH tHe CaPiTaLiZaTiOn. (How time-effective is that typing style anyway? 10 WPM?) But lurve? And making everything plural.... Hahas, wells, laters? Ugh. What the fuck is this intentional inarticulation about? The first time I saw it, I thought it was a fluke, but they're all doing it. Also on this topic, I have come to realize that the vast majority of blogskins contributors are impressionable Asian pre-teens and teens who are trying too hard to emulate American slang and sound like dumbasses in the process. (Example: "rawk on!!!!! tis skin is sho kewl!!!!!!!!") I don't know why, but it's making me crazy!! Yet I can't stay off blogskins. Have yet to post one of my own or download anyone elses, but still...must...look... HELP ME!

Jay and I just finished a pretty good effort to make the condo livable. Aside from the usual cleaning, vacuuming and dish-doing, I actually added a shitload of water to my Koi tank, and cleaned the filter. That is one of those tasks I forget about until the tank gets nasty. :o( Poor little koi fishes. They're growing and growing though, so they can't be too miserable. :o)

I don't have a lot to say today (not like anyone is reading anyway...waaaaaah!) so I'm off like a prom dress. Later, Taters.

*yawn* On top of what would have been a totally insane week anyway (at work), one of our 4 staff members was out on vacation and I was too burned out and tired to post much last week. The staggering lack of interest in my last post didn't have me feeling too obligated to blog, anyway. *wink* So I hope you all feel like crap! Ha ha. Just kidding. Anyway, Barb's back and I have today off and all is right with my world. *knocks on wood*

Um...between last Monday and this Monday Jay got a new job (we hope) working for US Airways. It's nothing fancy and doesn't pay a ton, but the health and dental benefits are great, plus he and his immediate family (that includes me!) get free unlimited air travel. So maybe we'll actually be able to take a vacation some day!! I don't know about anyone else, but I never go anywhere because it's so friggin expensive to get anywhere.

The only other even mildly exciting things that happened in the last week are that The Bars new site (a la Erin) went live Wednesday nite. So far the reviews are good.

I also drove down to Worcester Mass. yesterday to retrieve a puppy that Barb adopted from my mom. The puppy - we were hoping - could be transported to New Jersey or closer the weekend of the 25th (from Maryland) and we - Barb, Sarah and I - would go on a little road trip to pick her up. Well, if there's anything I've learned about life, it's that things don't always go as planned. The only ride in the foreseeable future was this past Saturday, when Barb was on vacation and didn't even know the pup was coming, and Sarah's brother was visiting and then there was me, doing nothing but trying to recover from Hell Week at work. So I went. It went very smoothly and Barb was beside herself when Sarah dropped off the puppy last nite. Ah, happy endings... So anyway, is that not a super cute puppy? Her exact lineage is a secret lost somewhere between a Jack Russell terrier, an Australian Cattle Dog and probably a chihuahua or two...we think. Only she knows what she's really made of!

I have a lot to do and nothing really interesting to say anyway, so I'm gonna go. Hope everyone is well. Happy Monday. (Yeah right!)

So, um...Happy Labor Day. I am not entirely sure what this holiday is about, because barely anything looked closed to me when I just went out to get groceries (grocery store, incidentally, not closed), so if they want to honor those who labor, it doesn't make much sense that so many are still working today. Oh, well. I'm not working, so I have nothing to bitch about!

I just have to say that I love my bed. I have not slept the whole nite through without waking up yet, but that is not unusual for me. What is unusual is that when I do wake up, I don't feel like I need to change position lest I lose circulation in a limb. Jay talking/yelling/laughing in his sleep (and in my face) was cause to turn over. I can't say it was due to even a smidgen of mattress-caused discomfort. So yay. The mattress doesn't become askew like the other one did (we were always having to re-center or straighten it), it doesn't squeak, it barely moves at all. :o) Good investment methinks. The only thing that's weird is that it's a bit weird when you first get on it or sit up to get off... I sink into or rise from it differently than I would on a normal mattress, and it gives me this vaguely dizzy feeling. Sort of when you get off an escalator you were walking up as it was carrying you up, or when the car next to you pulls forward and makes you feel like you're going backwards... Mildly disorienting. But that may just be me...

I have a lot I should do today. I put off laundry and the stair-climbing it entails yesterday because Friday nite (the last nite with the shitty bed) I awoke at 2:30 a.m. with the worst charlie horse I have ever had in my calf and the muscle was so strained that it was hurting to walk on it even yesterday. I get them every so often in the middle of the nite - always the same leg, and in my calf - and Jay always says to point my toes toward my head and stretch it out, but when you're half asleep and it feels like someone is ripping your muscle out with hot tongs, it's hard to move. Anyone else have brilliant remedies for this problem? I'm all ears.

Guess I should go do something constructive. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!

Jay and I just finished watching The Passion of the Christ. Everyone at least vaguely knows the story of Christ, but seeing it as it probably really did happen... Wow. The movie took a lot of flack for being so gruesome, but I think anyone who left out the true brutality was not telling the whole story and thereby not doing it justice. I will be the first to admit that I am not well-versed on the subject of Christianity, nor do I have very strong or defined religious beliefs, so perhaps I should have nothing to say on this topic, period. But that movie was one of the most powerful, beautiful, gruesome, brutal and moving things I have ever seen. I am glad I saw it. But I never want to see it again...

On another note, the Tempur-Pedic was delivered this morning and it's awesome. I can't wait to go to bed. I have only come out of the bedroom a few times today, 'cause I want to be on it constantly. It's a firmer than I am used to, but I feel so weightless on it, it doesn't matter. So far I am very happy with this investment.

Sorry to anyone who's been sniffing around here for posts and getting disappointed. (I don't believe there are many of you anyway...) Last week was a bit nuts at work and I ended up staying late most nites, so the last thing on my mind when I rolled in at the end of the day was blogging. More like whip up something quick for dinner, vegetate in front of the TV and go to bed. That was my week.

Hope all is well with everyone. Happy September!
