Happy Memorial Day! Last nite Jay and I went to the Rock 101 Sky Show. The park itself, where the bands were, was unbearably packed (probably 10 or 12 thousand people) so we crossed the river and watched from an old mill parking lot off 293. We took his motorcycle, thinking it would be easier to get out than if we were in the car. (Traffic post-fireworks is horrendous.) We had a slight advantage, as we could go places the cars couldn't, but we were just about as fucked as everyone else. We passed this woman who said to me, "It's assholes like you who give motorcycle riders a bad name." I just rolled my eyes and told her to fuck off, only to hit dead stopped traffic 20 feet away. I am such a chicken shit and only said something because we were moving. Lol. When we stopped, I was ready for her to come flying at me and start a fist fight or some shit, but she didn't. People suck. It made me really sad when I got home and started wondering what we did wrong that compelled her to be nasty. Then it occurred to me that she was a middle-aged jealous bitch who was stuck in traffic in her dumpy mini-van with a bunch of cranky kids. I'd be pissy too, but I'd friggin' keep it to myself! Anyway, moving on...

I have been working a lot today on PROJECT Revamp, which if you missed other posts, is my latest project. I thought I'd be scrounging for content, but as I get into it, I am overwhelmed with ideas and having trouble organizing them. Gotta love double-whammy ADD/OCD. Have this insane need to organize, but can't concentrate long enough to do it! Ha ha. For anyone who doesn't know me, I only joke about having ADD, but the OCD diagnosis has been confirmed. Mildly, but confirmed nonetheless. Again, moving on...

Here are some pics from the fireworks last nite. Hope everyone is doing something fun today. :o)

Well, this post is overdue. Lol. Once a slacker, always a slacker. I thought I had a bunch of stuff to report, but now I am drawing a blank...

Um...

There is this succession of semi-significant events which have taken place over the last couple of weeks which I have been meaning to (but forgetting) to record via blog. And don't think that I think you all actually find it that interesting. This blog is actually more for me than anything. I like being able to go back and use it to reference dates and times that things happened, as well as see how far I've come. Lol. Well, baby steps are good too, right?

Semi-significant thing #1: I think I had a panic attack a few weeks ago. Either that or I'm dying. Lol. I used to think I had panic attacks, but this was unlike anything I had experienced before. Anyway, that morning I had been feeling a little shaky, but attributed it to too much coffee. I was standing at the counter at a local bakery, waiting for a salad when I was hit with this overwhelming wave of nausea. They don't have a public bathroom, so I just concentrated on breathing deeply and hoped I could grab my salad and make it back to my car before puking. Within minutes, I felt like I was going to pass out. Everything was spinning, my peripheral vision was going black. My breathing got really fast and short. The girl finally brought out my salad and when I went to leave, my legs locked (hard to explain, the muscles just went rigid) and my hands got stiff and I couldn't open my fingers to open the door. It was so friggin scary. I managed to get out to my car and after sitting in the A/C for a few minutes, it passed. My hands were severely shaking for about an hour afterwards, but more or less I was fine. We checked my blood glucose when I got back to work, thinking maybe I had a hypoglycemic crash or something, but it was totally normal. It hasn't happened since. I thought about going to the doc, but when I actually got online and read about panic attacks, I have little doubt that that's what happened. It sucked. Anyway, moving on...

Semi-significant thing #2: I got a raise. Only 50 cents more an hour, but I'm not complaining! It's more than I was making, and more is better (at least in terms of money)!

Semi-significant thing #3: I went for my follow-up appointment with the ear/nose/throat specialist and he has confirmed that the source of my sinus misery is a deviated septum and enlarged turbinates. How do we fix this? Well, they tried steroid nasal spray and that accomplished nothing. That leaves surgery. Hour and a half surgery which will cost me a $1000 deductible. And my insurance may not cover it if they decide it is a pre-existing condition - which it really is, if you put two and two together. I've had sinus infections for the last 15 or so years. Cost without insurance? $10,000+. Yay. So I have to call Anthem and get some answers. I need to have this done. I don't want to keep getting sick. But damn...these assholes don't make it easy.

Semi-significant thing #4: Jay and I are going to go to the Rock 101 Sky Show tomorrow. Killer fireworks show at night (synchronized to the music they're playing on the radio - and they're not kidding, it's flawlessly, awesomely timed) and a bunch of bands - some national acts - during the day. Fun fun fun. :o)

Semi-significant thing #5: I talked to my mom briefly today and she says my sister is not taking her meds again... I don't know what to tell myself (or her) about that, and I am trying to ignore the fact (because I am helpless to change it) that I may very well be getting another call that she is back in the hospital...

Semi-significant thing #6: For some reason I got my period about 10 days earlier than usual and it lasted about 2 weeks, despite the fact that I am on birth control and those dumbass receptionists at Planned Parenthood told me it was normal... Um, no it's not. They told me to keep using the birth control (Nuvaring) on my regular schedule and call them if it happens again. That seems like the wrong answer to me, but I'll wait and see what happens... Anyone have any experience with this? Struck me as odd.

Semi-significant thing #7: We have a new tech at work. She's very cool. Dr. D fired Amy who was a friggin albatross. She stirred shit up from day one and he finally axed her ass. Good riddance. We don't need anyone coming in and fucking up our good thing. Dianne is fitting in very well and has an all-around good vibe about her. I'm psyched to have her with us. :o)

Semi-significant thing #8: Jay and I watched Paycheck and Love Actually the other nite. I recommend both whole-heartedly.

That's it for now. Hope everyone has a lovely long weekend!!

Well, today was a good day. I finally (after losing track - for the second time - of the only hair stylist I ever trusted) went elsewhere for a haircut. There is this spa - Adagio Spa - right up the road from where I work and the owner is one of our clients. She has been telling me since we opened (last June) that I should come in and I finally did today. The place is beautiful, I got a great haircut...and let's not forget the scalp massage. I was about to fall asleep! Anyway, so I am excited about that. It's nice to have very long hair (almost to my butt), but the ends were really dry and scraggly. I needed the pampering! :o) (Oh, and I should add...$30 was a bargain for the wash, conditioner, scalp massage, cut, blowdry and style I got. I love Barrington - high quality, but not expensive.)

Dinner is boiling over, so I should go. Hope everyone is having a good week so far!

OK, the bathroom looks awesome AND I have this pair of old Carhartt work jeans that I got too friggin fat for a couple of years ago, but because they were my favorite pair (you know, the ones you LIVE in), I kept them. Guess what? I am wearing them now! *huge smile* Hey, I hope no one gets annoyed with me for all the weight loss talk, but at the same time, you should remember the following:

1) It's my blog.
2) It's my blog.
3) It's not your blog.
4) It's my blog.

*smile*

Hope everyone is having a good day. I am! :o)

Yippe, I have a pretty shitter!

Yay. Rock 101 is playing a block of Jane's (currently "Been Caught Stealin'") and I am a happy girl. :o) It's really shitty out today, so Jay was inspired to do indoor things... ie. spackle holes, sand, paint and install new molding in my god-awful bathroom. We put in a new floor a few months ago and the rest of it has looked even shittier since, in comparison. So he's in there doing his thing, and I am in the living room doing mine.

Damn, I LOVE THIS BAND!!!! When we want something and we don't wanna pay for it...we walk right through the door, walk right through the door. Hey alright. If I get buy, it's mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine, it's mine.

So, I have an addiction to divulge. I am hopelessly hooked on 80stees.com. In the last 2 months, I have spent around $200 there. Not all for me, of course. Got a couple for my sister, some for Jay for his birthday. Today I got 3 (1, 2, 3) for me and one for my mom. It's just such good shit. I LOVE THE 80S! I mean, I am not saying I plan on busting out my flourescent spandex and Reebok high tops, but it was just a fun time. :o)

Hmmm...what else to share. I have started to lay out out the revamp website (working title: PROJECT Revamp). I want it to have a lot of content, so it will be in the works for a long while, but it's definitely something I am going to do. I am actually very excited about it. :o) Maybe I'll become a self-help guru. LMAO!! Yeah right!!! *sticks out tongue and crosses eyes*

So here are some shots of the bathroom before the new floor, with the new floor, and before the wall job. I have a cleaning handicap, so please don't be too grossed out. It just doesn't occur to me to wash walls and baseboards and stuff... I will start doing better!!

Before the new floor.

After the new floor.

Pre-paint.

My butterfly koi fish, posted just 'cause they're cute. :o)

Have a good weekend, all!

Mmmmm mmmmm good. Sugar-free, fat-free Jell-O pudding - white chocolate flavor. Yes ma'am! This is some tasty stuff. :o)

I have a half day today, so I went to the health food store and picked up a few things, then on to the grocery store for another few things. I just had a lovely lunch of toasted pita bread (the low-carb variety, of course), cut into triangles and dipped in vegetable hummous. Some people would say that sounds disgusting, but damn... I love it. :o)

Nothing really exciting going on, as usual. Down another 2 lbs. Yahoo!

Gotta go ride my bike. Hope everyone is having a lovely afternoon.

Well, Jay is usually home for a few hours before I get in and when I came home today, he wasn't here and there was no note, no message on the answering machine, no nothing. I wouldn't ordinarily worry too much, but it's totally unlike him. PLUS, we went to see Van Helsing Saturday nite and he had me hold onto his wallet and I forgot to give it back, so he was out all day without any ID. Being the neurotic girl I am, I started thinking about him having gone off the road somewhere or something horrific like that. Then he called. Was out working on a friend's motorcycle and lost track of time. It's a perfectly acceptable explanation, but I am still annoyed that he didn't call and let me know he was going to be home so late. I was worried! Anyway...

I am seriously getting into this body/lifestyle makeover and was thinking about maybe doing a website, simply dedicated to revamping. Whether it be your bod, your soul, your brain... Anything that could use improvement, change for the better. Lemme know what you think.

I rode the bike for 40 minutes yesterday (10 miles) and although I have myself on an every-other-day allowance, I think I will do some more tonite. :o) So I am off. Hope everyone had a good Monday.

Thanks for all the nice comments on the layout. Not to shit on myself, but my vision was way better than this. I guess my inspiration is coming in short waves lately, so I have to take advantage of it when it happens. Half-assed or not.

I really have no explanation for my hiatus. Just been busy and not interested in blogging. I do have a few good things to report though. :o)

I started reading The South Beach Diet and have concocted this new food approach by taking parts from it, the Atkins stuff and The Carbohydrate Addict's Diet. Basically I have determined that carbs are not bad, but most people eat crap carbs that are not balanced, ie. it's all carbs, no fiber/protein, etc., so your body does not metabolize efficiently. So my thought was - and this is really so basic it's silly - to make sure I eat good carbs and balanced meals. Duh! I am not feeling deprived and I am not hungry, and this is not difficult.

The choices I am making differently are, for example, to make myself a low-carb whole wheat pita bread pizza instead of a Boboli; use the low-carb multi-grain bread instead of a white bulkie roll for sandwiches; drink more water instead of more juice (empty calories and carbs, no fiber)... I have also been very modestly exercising. 20-30 minutes (4-5 miles) on the exercise bike, three or four times a week. And you know what? It has not even been 3 weeks and I have lost 8 lbs.

I don't mean to go all "diet guru" on you, but seriously... This is working, and I have tried everything. I don't stick to anything for long because I always feel so robbed of my flavors and things I enjoy. Using this principle, I am simply making substitutions and modifications. So far I haven't given anything up. :o) I even figured out how I don't have to give up my Saturday French toast! (Even though I have decided Saturdays are my "whatever I want" day!) Regular French toast has a ton of carbs from milk, bread and sugar. That doesn't include the syrup. If I make it with low-carb milk, Splenda sugar-substitute and my low-carb whole grain bread (not to mention the sugar-free syrup) it will have like 1/4 the carbs it would normally. And I assure you, I have been experimenting with all the low-carb products lately, and I know the ones to avoid. This will be good!

So, I am really excited about this lately. I feel like I have stumbled upon a miracle, but really it's the most basic thing, we have just all forgotten our good eating habits, as easier, faster food floods the stores... The Hot Pockets and Mac 'n' Cheese, if not balanced with fiber and protein, screw up your ability to digest efficiently. I am living proof that this is true. I will keep you posted. :o)

I guess I don't have much else going on right now. Nothing I really feel like blogging about anyway. I hope all is well with everyone. Have a good weekend!

Don't everyone get excited now...I am just trying to see if Blogger has stopped being a fucktard. (Thank you, Jannie, for the delicious terminology.)
