Anyone got any resolutions?

Hello all. I feel like I don't have time to ever blog anything good lately. :o( This is another case of that. Just wanted to say the pot roast turned out awesome, I am finally feeling better (though I think I have kennel cough - veterinary humor, sorry!), sis sounds pretty good currently, I am off for the weekend as of 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon and life is pretty good.

Hope everyone has a very safe and Happy New Year! Be careful out on the road - and wear your seatbelt! :o)

Jay and I went to see the last Lord of the Rings last nite. I cannot even offer a semi-articulate review, as I was speechless upon exiting the theater. Unfuckingbelievable. There's my one word review. If you haven't seen it, go quickly. Unfuckingbelievable. The one and only thing I didn't get (and I forgot how the book ended, I read it so long ago) is the end... What was with the boat? If anyone knows what I am talking about, please feel free to email me.

I am using my crock pot for the first time this today. Makin' a pot roast. :o) Very excited. I concocted this herb rub (or something) last nite out of rosemary, parsley, basil, minced garlic and onion that I think will impart a really lovely flavor to the roast and veggies. We shall see. Just call me Emeral. Or however you spell it. Lol.

My First Pot Roast

Gotta go check on breakfast. C-ya later. :o)

Ick. Yup. I am wicked sick. For sure. Went to the doc on Christmas Eve day and was diagnosed with acute sinusitis (sinus infection), which was no surprise. I am the Sinus Infection Queen. Anyway, they put my on a potent antibiotic that makes me have horrible stomach pains if I don't eat something with it, but my friggin throat is so sore that I haven't been eating much. *sigh* Being sick sucks. For whatever reason, the Zithromax (antibiotic) usually works very fast for me but I am on day three now and actually feel worse. :o( Whine whine, bitch bitch. I should just shut up.

Christmas went very well. Because of the whole thing with my sister, my mom was a little out of comission and I didn't get any presents from my family, but it's OK because honestly, the fun for me is in giving way more than receiving. Anyway, Jay came through big time anyway, as did my girls at work. Jay got me a KitchenAid. Yay!!!! I didn't think it was possible, but now my mashed potatoes will be even better! Barb and Sarah got me a crock pot and 2 cookbooks, so now I can figure out pot roast. I asked for and got (from Jay) a peeler w/comfort grip handle, a rubber scraper that is actually rubber (not the useless plastic ones that don't scrape jack diddly shit), and a kitchen step ladder thingy, 'cause I'm a shorty and can't reach the top shelf in the cabinets. Jay also gave me some body lotion, body wash and perfume, butter cookies (Xmas tradition!), candle lantern and tea lights, and other little things. He was very excited about his eBay present, which I can now reveal to you without fear that he might read the blog... It is a collector's edition Matrix Trinity statue up in the famous position from the first movie. He told me a while back that he had seen the statue in a shop on Pennsylvania and inquired about it and the guy said it was not for sale and good luck getting one, 'cause they were rare and expensive. Well, I am a good little doobie and put that info away for later use. So anyway, he was psyched. It was a good Christmas.

Anyway, we went to his sister's Xmas eve, opened our presents at 4:30 Xmas morning, went back to bed, went to his mom's for dinner last nite and then back home to bed. I worked a half-day today which was good, 'cause I really needed to come home and sleep. Anyway, that is all I really have to ramble about tonite. Hope all is well with everyone. Have a good weekend!

Well, here I am at the front desk with a hacking cough, wicked sinus drip and a sore throat. Don't know where it came from. :o( Woke up with it. Oh, well. I am only working a half-day today, so I am looking forward to being on the couch by 1:30 watching Christmas movies.

Updates are as follows:

Anyway, that's it I guess. I will probably blog something festive tomorrow. :o)

Well, I was gonna do the Friday Five, but they kinda suck this week so I'll spare you. However merciful that may seem, now I really have scarce topics of bloggersation (like conversation, but not)!

I had been fretting about what was to come of Indie when Jay took her spot in my bed. (Sorry if that's TMI, but it's true. I have the left and she had the right.) Anyway, she's in a large dog run all day at work and I take her out and let her haul ass on my lunch break so she can blow off some steam and she seemed totally content with that arrangement, but it was breaking my heart to crate her at nite. So why not just let her loose, you ask? Well, for starters, when left to roam aimlessly, she bowls kitties. And that is exactly what it sounds like. She positions herself a few yards away, springs and then runs down a cat or two... As I'm sure you can imagine, in the middle of the nite (because she also loves sneak attacks) this sucks. More specifically, in the middle of the night and on the bed, which is no obstacle for Indie, this really sucks! Other than that, she will get on the bed and fart and kick and wiggle her way into your face as soon as your guard is down and while part of me thinks it's cute that she so loves to snuggle, the novelty of it wares off as soon as her ass is in my face. So no goons on the bed. That's the rule. Now... Back to the fact that I hated crating her at nite and she hated it too...

Last nite I put down 2 old pillows and the blanket from her crate on the floor and she slept there, without protest or sneaky and/or obnoxious behavior, all nite. Might be a fluke, but she seems so happy being allowed in the room, even if not the bed. And I am happier knowing she's happy. :o)

I guess I do have a few more things I could share, but I'm tired and don't want to sit in this chair anymore. So I'm not gonna. Lol. Have a good weekend everyone!!

*yawn* So tired lately, but thought I'd stop in and at least make a few notes to remind me what was going on in my life at this point in time when I reread this blog in a year or two...

I was going to tell you a whole story that unfolded this weekend, but it's just too fucking dramatic to indulge. All I will say is that my sister is in the hospital in New Zealand (where she was traveling) and can't leave for a good week and there is unbelievable, unnecessary family drama going on. My father is an ass and I don't know what to believe. Any positive thoughts y'all could send my sister's way would be appreciated.

We got more snow and ice last nite and I doubt I am going to work. Will reassess when it gets light out. The roads look really bad and everything is closed today. Five days off in a row? Might happen after all...

Time for the Friday Five:

1. Do you enjoy the cold weather and snow for the holidays? Hell yeah! I don't know how people in warm climates can get into the spirit. I guess you adjust to whatever you know, so maybe people in Florida would be weirded out by snow and cold weather. I'unno!
2. What is your ideal holiday celebration? How, where, with whom would you celebrate to make things perfect? I love being "home" (which has become more or less impossible since my mom moved to Maryland, 'cause that is NOT home, but at the same time, my apartment doesn't feel like home either...) I guess my ideal Christmas is in a warm, cozy, homey place, a fire going, the tree lit, cookies being made, yummy candles burning, Christmas tunes playing, and my near and dear all feeling warm and fuzzy...
3. Do you do have any holiday traditions? I always
look out the window at the sky Christmas eve (yes, looking for the obvious!) We used to make a gingerbread house when we were all together for the holidays, and we had this round piece of mirror we put down as a pond and my mom had this crazy assortment of porcelain animals and people that we would set up skating and sledding and don't forget the white confetti stuff as snow! It was a crazy scene, lemme tell ya! We also always watched Santa Clause the Movie in Christmas Eve. It's a wicked old flick (probably 1985 or so), but it has the best North Pole ever. When I was a kid, we used to sleep under the Christmas tree in our sleeping bags. Not Christmas Eve, of course!
4. Do you do anything to help the needy? I wonder if anyone is going to admit they don't and look like a total Scrooge. Well, honestly, I don't do much, but it's better than nothing. I donate what I can to the Salvation Army dudes outside the store and I often drop a bunch of cans in the food pantry bin at the grocery store. I will probably donate to the SPCA this year, too. They get inundated with unwanted animals this time of year.
5. What one gift would you like for yourself? Um, why only one? Lol. And does this have to be a reasonable, attainable present? 'Cause I would like a log cabin closer to work. Lol. Dream the impossible dream!

The internet/cable man is here setting us up for expanded cable and cable internet. Yay! So now I can talk about nothing and post lame pictures at light speed. Ha ha. Speaking of... I should try again to post the snow pics. Let's see if I can get them up...

Yay! It worked! Well, hope everyone has a good weekend! :o)

Ack. I don’t know how it happened, but I am so tired I am retarded. I guess it’s all the conversations that are going on between the cats at nite. At least they seem to be less antagonistic to each other, but loud nonetheless.

Anyway, I am so tired that when I went out to my car this morning, I found that my door was wide open but locked… I went to Jay’s after work to help him clean the apartment and I guess I just forgot to close it when we finally rolled in around 10 PM. That seems so totally crazy to me that I would just get out and leave my door open (especially silly that I did remember to hit the lock!?) but that is how tired I am. Luckily nothing was missing from the car, though I had left my bag with wallet, credit cards, etc. inside. Boy am I a lucky girl.

Anyhoo, I have one more day to get through and then I get to sleeeeeeep. Yay. Friday off. Thank fucking god. I so need it.

Hope everyone has a lovely evening. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…

Oh, P.S. Check this out. Funny ha ha. Make sure volume is up. :oP

Just a quickie... I have been trying to blog for you guys and I had all these great pics of the snowstorm this weekend that I couldn't upload (Tripod licks balls lately!), so I figured I'd wait until I could do it right. Anyway, the latest is that we got about 22 inches of snow Saturday and Sunday and I pulled every muscle in my body digging/pushing out Jay's and my car. Actually, with my all-wheel drive, mine only required digging, but Jay's...let's just say his tires are as smooth as freshly shaven legs and it was a bitch to get it out. And it has a trick clutch, so while I really should have been driving and he should have been pushing (chivalry or something, you know!) it was I who had to do the pushing. I am hurtin' like hell, but I have to say there is something satisfying about pushing as hard as you can and finally feeling it move. I felt like a tank. Lol. Yay me.

He is about 1/2 moved in. Furniture still has to come. We were going to do it this weekend, but decided it would be just plain stupid to be driving a huge truck full of furniture around in a blizzard. Only thing I can think of worse than going off the road in a car is doing it in a really big truck. So we will be working into the nite for the next few days. Ugh.

The kitties have been quite rude to each other and I haven't gotten a good nite's sleep in 3 days due to all the growling and hissing. I did go out in the storm yesterday morning to get a Feliway diffuser. For those not in the know, it's like a Glade Plug-In, but it diffuses a feline pheromone to bring about a sense of calm and well-being. And it really works. Within minutes, they were all chilled out. I mean, they are exchanging words still, but it's nothing like it was.

Anyway, I should get back to work. I will try to get the pics up soon, but after work for the next few days I am moving, so it might not be until the end of the week. (I know, you're all is such suspense, right? Lol.)

Have a good week, everyone!
